Right-Wing Authoritarianism Test

Based on the work of Dr. R.A. Altemeyer, Ph.D.

Authoritarianism is an approach to politics characterized by support for strong central power and the constriction of individual freedoms. For years, researchers thought authoritarianism was exclusively the domain of the right-wing, but recently researchers have begun discussing the possibility of left-wing authoritarianism as well. This test is based on the classical right-wing authoritarianism scale by Dr. R.A. Altemeyer. It will determine your level of right-wing authoritarianism (RWA).

Are you a right-wing authoritarian? For each of the following statements, indicate your level of agreement below.

Question 1 of 12

It’s always better to trust the proper authorities among conservative leaders than it is to listen to progressive rabble rousers who are trying to upset our traditional ways.
